You are facing challenges that your current team cannot handle. It’s not their skills per se, but the current workload and bandwidth you have.
Typical Challenges
Sometimes you cannot meet your ambition and goals you’ve set yourself up. Your team is working hard on the product and there are some features you’d like to build, but you just don’t have the people to do it. Hiring would be to short sighted (you only need that little push in a very specific area).
Or it could be that your consultancy needs that developer to cover for someone and you just don’t have anyone on the bench that could do the work.
Ambitions
The main ambition of this service is helping you deliver the software you want to deliver without adding pressure to the team. Sometimes this is in the form of projects that might not be the core of your business, but still need to be done, other times it’s to become part of your team in a time of crunch.
How is this different to my Player Coaching service? Whereas in both instances I’ll be working on your code, this modality does not include the coaching and training of your team and instead focuses on getting that code written.
Who is this for?
- Product companies, consultancies in a time of need
Deliverables
- The boost you needed for your product/project
Timeline
Depends on your needs. Typically between 4 to 12 weeks of active development.
Case Study
DNSimple wanted to offer to their customers more API clients for their DNS configuration API. The team was busy working hard adding new features to the core product and they did not have the time.
I was asked to work on the outdated DNSimple PHP client (it was really just a proof of concept someone had coded a long time ago, but they needed this to become a real client).
After completing the work successfully I was tasked with working on some more API clients for them:
This work allowed the team to continune working unencumbered on their main task, while at the same time offering their customers four new ways of using their DNS API.
